Bonjour,
This series of original drawings and paintings, titled "PIERROT" focus on the iconic French character rooted in the commedia dell’arte (Italian comedy). With his gentle melancholy, he has left an indelible mark on me since a young age.
PIERROT RÊVE (PIERROT DREAMS)
The circular framing of this artwork guides your eye naturally through the piece, creating a sense of unity and wholeness. The geometric precision contrasts with the fluid contours of Pierrot, encircled by an elaborate sphere reminiscent of Mediterranean tile work, in which the moon symbol subtly appears. This motif of the moon, often connected with Pierrot, symbolizes his melancholic, dreamlike nature—his longing for the unattainable, much like the distant moon he gazes at.
In PIERROT RÊVE, the black panel behind Pierrot acts as a gateway into his dream world. The incomplete sections of the geometric pattern suggest the evolving nature of dreams—where things remain unresolved or undefined. The artwork invites us to reflect on our state of mind, where dreams, desires, and reality blur, leaving open-ended questions about what is real and what is imagined.
In the end, this piece is not just about the visual—it is about creating an introspective experience, inviting you to let your imagination awaken. I invite you to feel that art is more than what we see—it’s about what it makes us dream and feel. What emotions does PIERROT RÊVE evoke in you?
