Please feel free to ask any questions! More about these illustrations:
I drew these Harlequins by hand and colored it with watercolor markers and colored pencils. These illustrations were initially a part of a series of costume designs for a show produced by the Boston Early Music Festival. Harlequin (in English), Arlecchino (in Italian) or Arlequin (in French) is probably the most famous characters of Commedia Dell'Arte. In these illustrations, I drew Harlequin in different disguises: as a hussar, as a ballet master, as a woman, as a gem merchant, as a parody of Hercules.
Commedia Dell'Arte was an early form of professional theater, originating in Italy, that was popular throughout Europe between the 16th and 18th centuries.
These mini-prints are versatile! They can be framed and used as miniature prints to add some petite joy to your walls. Or, as they come with a set of colored envelopes, you can use them to leave sweet notes for your friends (the back is blank and not coated). Just like my notebooks, they make unique gifts for all the art-meets-practicality enthusiasts out there.
